Seaside at Chelwood - donated £1,100
On Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd August 2015, Chelwood Baptist Church ran their most ambitious project for a number of years – Seaside at Chelwood.
The Chelwood Baptist Church plan was to bring the seaside to the middle of Stockport, and make it as authentic as possible.
The School Bus Foundation donated £1,100 to help bring the seaside to Stockport as well as other organisations contributing towards Chelwood Baptist Church's dream.
Everyone had a wonderful weekend, there was donkey rides, a fairground ride, coconut shy, candy floss, bouncy castle, boules, swingball, space hoppers, hula-hooping, hook a duck, entertainment and lot's more.
People from near and far came for a taste of the beach. Even Saturday’s awful weather couldn’t dampen spirits or have any negative impact on the numbers of people that came. However, it was Sunday that turned the vision into a reality with the sun shining and lots of people enjoying the sand, water and all other attractions.
In the end, the Seaside at Chelwood exceeded expectations. It brought the Church closer together and most importantly it gave the local community a brilliant weekend of summer fun, many of whom wouldn’t have gone to the seaside this summer.
